ARGENTINA RETURNED TO FACE-TO-FACE EVENTS IN THE LITORAL REGION DURING THE REACTIVATION

The meeting took place in a hybrid format in the city of Paraná, the capital of the Entre Ríos province. More than 150 participants analysed the reactivation of the sector which Argentina is leading in America Latina.

The Regional Meeting of Destinations for Hosting Events —Litoral Region (Encuentro Regional de Destinos Sede de Eventos)was organized among the National Bureau of Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR), the Argentine Association of Organizers and Suppliers of Exhibitions, Congresses, Events and Convention Bureaux (AOCA), authorities of the Entre Ríos province, and the Bureau of Congresses and Conventions of Paraná on September 15th and 16th in the capital of Entre Ríos.

In addition to continuing working on reviving tourism in Argentina to face the post-pandemic world, the meeting had major importance since it was the first one in the segment carried out in a hybrid format with promising participations.

The Governor of the Province of Entre Ríos, Gustavo Bordet, the Tourism Secretary of the National Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Yanina Martínez, the President of the AOCA, Fernando Gorbarán, the Director of Touristic Products of the INPROTUR, Pablo Sismanian, and the mayor of Paraná, Adán Bahl, made the welcome remarks in the opening ceremony. Distinguished authorities attended this event, including the Ministry of Production and Tourism of the Province of Entre Ríos, Juan José Bahillo, the President of Bureau of Congresses and Conventions of Paraná, Carlos Monti, and the President of the Joint Entity of Tourism of the City of Paraná, Agustín Clavenzani, among others.

Paraná is one of the many cities of the country with a large and modern infrastructure for events. Thanks to its Provincial Convention Centre (CPC), it has gained such a reputation.

In order to give higher value to the touristic offer in Argentina within the MICE segment —in which our country was recognized as the Latin American leader— the following topics were covered: the Awareness towards the Local Community Workshop, the presentation of the Regional Report by the Economic Observatory of Meetings Tourism in Argentina (OETRA), the Activity Recovery, the Roles of Bureaux, the Sport Events and the Importance of Hosting Destinations to Generate Value, and the workshop Nominate your City as a Hosting Destination for Sport Events.

It should be pointed out that the Agreement of Institutional Strengthening of Bureaux was signed between the National Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the AOCA. This agreement is focused on sport events. This association, working alongside the INPROTUR and powered by the Sport Tourism, seeks to boost this sector in which Argentina has a lot to offer —such as golf, polo, and the Superclásicos Boca vs. River, a one-of-a-kind show in the world.

This way, initiatives to reignite this sector, which produces around $400 million worldwide, are launched. Argentina improved its offer in this segment through the Strategic Marketing Plan for Meetings Tourism developed 13 years ago, and it takes the leading role in Latin America nowadays.
