OUTSTANDING ARGENTINE PROMOTION IN CHINA

During the last week of June, the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consulate General and Promotion Center in Shanghai, organized a tourist event: Argentina: Adventure is Waiting for You, in the historical Hongkou district.  Adventure, sport and nature were the core ideas of a proposal that revolved around post-pandemic tourism.

Argentina keeps getting ready for post-pandemic tourism Our country has valuable tools, such as the Safe Travels Stamp awarded by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the development of 14 health protocols and a vast territory, to ensure an experience in nature with the required social distancing guaranteed, once tourism is allowed by the health conditions.

In order to promote Argentina’s attractions with a view to the future, the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consulate General and Promotion Center in Shanghai, carried out a tourist event named Argentina: Adventure is Waiting for You in the historical Hongkou District in China. The event focused on displaying the varied tourism proposals that our country can offer in connection with Adventure Tourism and sports.

Ricardo Sosa, Executive Secretary of the National Bureau of Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR) pointed out that “The joint work with the Argentine Consulate is of major importance as it allows us to get close to various markets and therefore raise interest in our country. This initiative in such a key market as China enables us to keep positioning our tourist image in that country and further promote our diverse proposals”.

The variety of our geography, rafting along zigzagging rivers, trekking on glaciers such as Perito Moreno, kayaking, land-sailing in San Juan, paragliding in the north, kitesurfing and snow activities in the majestic Andes mountains were some of the many destinations promoted in the Chinese territory.

The event also included a tango show – as well as a tango lesson – offered by the Tango Cool School, with songs in Spanish and Chinese performed by Argentine artist Catalina Vázquez, and ended with a tasting of wines presented by Pampa, Angulo Innocenti, Blue Horn, Toneles, Trapiche and Zuccardi wineries. More than 100 people attended the event, including major companies such as Ctrip, Tuniu, CITS, YTS, Youpai Int Travel, Shanghai Keyou Int Travel, Bravo Travel, Diadema and Iyouyou, airline companies as Aeroméxico, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Ethiopian Airlines and AirFrance, apart from the general public.

With around 150 million Chinese tourists traveling abroad every year, promotion in this Asian country is critical to increase the more than 75,000 visitors that our country welcomed before the pandemic.
