SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO’S WINE AND GOLF IN INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

Two productions go deep into the Termas de Río Hondo’s green and into the lives of Santiago del Estero to dream about an experience filled with flavors and sport in the North of Argentina.

The only one in South America, the golf course at the Termas de Río Hondo Golf Club designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the son of the legendary American architect, has definitely been one of the must-see places of Sports Tourism in Argentina since its opening in 2018.

The Termas golf course, together with the Race Track and the Automobile Museum, are the three landmarks that enhance the proposal of Argentine sports tourism and position the Province of Santiago del Estero as a great option for international tourists who are willing to visit the North of Argentina.

Besides the green and the well-being that Termas de Río Hondo can offer, all the territory of Santiago del Estero redefined its tourist image several years ago with other innovative ventures, such as the Finca María del Pilar winery, an establishment that has been open since October 2019, located in the district of Beltrán, a few minutes away from the provincial capital.

In the words of National Bureau of Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR)’s Executive Secretary Ricardo Sosa: “The world ought to know that Argentina’s territory is more than 5 thousand kilometers long, from North to South. This means that the possibilities are endless and there are a lot of destinations to see, such as Santiago del Estero which, thanks to its long-term efforts, positioned itself as a leading example in the Northern region and today we can see some major developments there, such as golf and wine. We then urge international tourists to go deep into the province and learn more about our country”.

And just as the Termas de Río Hondo Golf Club is unique because there is no other golf course designed by Trent Jones II in South America, so is Finca María del Pilar, because it is the only winery in the entire province.

To promote these proposals, INPROTUR is carrying out two TV productions to be released in the next few months. The Termas episode will be broadcast by Golf Channel Lationamérica, a channel that has already shown other locations in the countryside of Argentina.

On the other hand, Finca María del Pilar’s charm and secrets will be portrayed through a challenge that sommelier Martín Bruno will present to chef Juan Gaffuri, to find the perfect dish for the wine that Bruno has chosen.

“The sun never sets on a Robert Trent Jones golf course” is what the father of the Termas golf course designer used to say. And in Santiago del Estero, energy never dies; it is always alive.
