In the northern province of Santiago del Estero, President Alberto Fernández opened the majestic Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades, featuring a world first-class design.
In spite of the pandemic and all the difficulties it brought about all over the world, Argentina has never given up and keeps showing signs of recovery. Recently, the Province of Santiago del Estero, in the northern region, opened the modern Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades, which will host the soccer Copa América 2021, in its namesake capital.
With a capacity for around 30 thousand people and a modern design, the brand-new construction was introduced by President Alberto Fernández, accompanied by Santiago del Estero governor Gerardo Zamora, minister of Tourism and Sports Matías Lammens and National Bureau of Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR)’s Executive Secretary Ricardo Sosa, among other officials.
As the president said “there is no denying that, by giving the provinces, and especially the northern area, more access to the goods and services they need, we are generating equality”.
Zamora added that “we have taken a step forward amidst the pandemic and the government has funded a historical construction such as the Nuevo Canal de la Patria”.
“Opening the Madre de Ciudades stadium means taking another step forward as far as infrastructure in sports and tourism is concerned, because this magnificent work and its museum will be the reason why thousands of travelers will visit us”, said Lammens.
Sosa also stated that “this work leverages Argentine sport and tourism. In June we will be hosting the Copa América here and world tourists will be able to enjoy a top-quality competition in a first-rate destination”.
The new stadium has 22 balconies, VIP seats and 25 comfortable press boxes. It is connected to the capital city’s bus terminal and to the La Banda railway station by the Tren al Desarrollo [Train to Development]. One of its greatest attractions is the Interactive Museum, which features a high technology level. It also has a restaurant and a bar which offer all the facilities that guarantee an amazing visit.
The Madre de Ciudades stadium will also be important for MICE Tourism, a segment in which Argentina is the Latin American leader and promises to continue climbing positions in the rest of the world.
