ARGENTINA, ONE OF THE 25 DESTINATIONS IN THE WORLD TO VISIT IN 2021, ACCORDING TO NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC

The publishers of Traveler, the prestigious National Geographic publication, ranked Los Glaciares National Park, a Patagonia icon, as one of the greatest attractions to visit and enjoy next year.

After 2020 paralyzed the entire world as a result of the pandemic, 2021 promises to be the very opposite and international tourists are already enthusiastic about traveling again.

In light of what is to come, the publishers of National Geographic Traveler have recently developed a list of 25 places to dream about and visit next year, divided into five sections: Sustainability, Culture and History, Nature, Family and Adventure.

It is in the Adventure section that the renowned publication recommended visiting Los Glaciares National Park, in the Province of Santa Cruz, in Patagonia. Less than 2 hours from El Calafate -the closest city to the park and one of the major tourist destinations in Argentina- this protected area is an icon of world tourism.

There, visitors can go to the famous Perito Moreno glacier, which has the advantage of being the most accessible one, as it can be watched from modern easy-to-stroll-along walkways. It also offers the possibility of going ice trekking, one of the most amazing experiences that can be enjoyed in the Park.

As INPROTUR’s Executive Secretary Ricardo Sosa summed up: Glaciers are a few of the many natural wonders that our country has to offer. This National Geographic proposal encourages us to keep making our destinations better as well as generating more possibilities for world travelers to visit us and feel like coming back”.

However, the Perito Moreno is not all. By sailing along the Lago Argentino, visitors can take a close look at other wonderful glaciers, such as Spegazzini or Upsala.

El Calafate City also offers very good alternatives, such as a walk on the waterfront, Libertador Avenue – the main road, ideal for going shopping or taste a delicious Patagonia lamb -, Laguna Nimez ecological reserve, Cerro Huyliche and much more.

El Calafate is also the ideal base to visit El Chaltén, a neighboring district located about 2 hours away and known as the National Capital of Trekking.
